ED Lagara Investments Ltd Interacts with Farmers in Agago District

Sections of farmers engaged in a sensitisation meeting explained to Executive Director Lagara Investments Limited, Eng Raymond Olyel that there is a need to expand commercial farming. 

They welcomed the strategic planning meeting as they wait for favourable climate change to plant crops.Mr. Okot James Gamel the speaker lira Palwo town council has on Tuesday 12th march 2024 appeals to the farmers to practice their farming in group to ensure easy marketing and to access of support on crops varieties during the consultative meeting Lagara investment limited held at gang Kal central cell, Abone gang-Kal ward, Lira Palwo sub county. He adds that it’s important to increase one's household income. 

Among the factors affecting farming, he says climate, marketing, are among those that can affect farming. He emphasized that locals should get in touch with Lagara Investments Limited for better Agribusinesses.They also cried out about the unfavorable climate that has affected farming amidst uncertainty, lack of markets for their final farm products.

The executive director for Lagara Investments Limited, Eng Olyel Raymond encourages small scale farmers to engage in large scale farming in order to realize stable household income. Olyel said large scale farming is important because it will help for medical bills, school fees, among others.

According to the farmers who turned up for the sensitization meeting, they usually spent between 3 to 5 million yearly as social security to sustain them. They allege that PDM cash donated by the government, if not properly guided and directed, will increase poverty among households.

Eng Olyel said that those succeeding in farming are not highly learned in regards to farming, but rather persevere and endure challenges along the path. 

“It’s through hard work and consistency that would result in fruitful harvest from the garden,” he explains, adding that value addition is the best way to enhance income through farming.One of these is harvesting maize and changing it to flour which is later sold to final consumers at a high cost.
